biography
JT Boe, the winner of three consecutive World Cup Total Score titles, made his debut on the BMW IBU World Cup circuit in the 2012/2013 season, just weeks after he won Pursuit Gold at the IBU YJ World Championships in Obertilliach. He followed in the footsteps of his brother, 2011 World Cup Total Score winner Tarjei who persuaded JT at a young age that his talents on snow were greater than on the football pitch. Tarjei proved to be right because JT improved quickly, finishing third in the 2013/14 World Cup Total Score standings and following that up with the IBU World Championships Sprint Gold medal the next year in Kontiolahti. Since then, JT has added 22 more medals to his IBU World Championships collection, including nine Gold.2018 was a milestone year for the younger Boe brother. He won the Olympic 20 km Individual Gold medal as well as Mixed Relay and Relay Silver at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games and claimed his first discipline globe taking the World Cup Individual Score. The following season, he set a record with 16 wins on the way to claiming his first big Crystal Globe, ending Martin Fourcade’s streak of seven consecutive titles. He also won all of
the discipline globes that season, giving JT a clean sweep of crystal globes that year. Despite missing two weeks of competitions for paternity leave, he won his second consecutive World Cup Total Score title in the 2019/20 season. He made it three in a row World Cup Total Score titles in 2020/21. That win was hard-fought, although he wore the Yellow Bib for most of the season, as he battled with young teammate Sturla Holm Laegreid until the final competition. Boe was not quite as dominant in the season as in some others but still was the “King of the Sprint,” winning three on his way to the World Cup Sprint Score title for the second time in his career.JT Boe lives with his wife Hedda and son Gustav in a new home about 50 km outside of Oslo. He is known for his power on the skis, obsession with improvement, dedication to his young family and laid-back manner for a champion of his magnitude.
